Laltu

Laltu is our Reed maker. Reed is a comb-like structure made from thin metal or wooden strips held within a frame. Its primary function is to beat or push the weft threads securely into place against the already woven fabric, ensuring a tight and even weave. The spaces between the strips of the reed, known as dents, guide the warp threads through the loom, helping maintain their alignment and tension. This precise control allows for the creation of intricate patterns and consistent fabric quality.
Reeds come in various widths and densities to accommodate different types of fibers and weaving techniques. By providing structure and regularity, the reed is an essential tool in the weaving process.
