Lalita

Lalita

Lalita winding yarn from the Hanks to the bobbins on a hand held charkha.

In this process the thread is fed from a larger cone or spool and wound onto the bobbin in a controlled manner to ensure even tension and layering. The speed and tension of the winding process must be carefully managed to prevent stretching or damaging the thread.
Once the bobbins are wound with the required amount of weft thread, they are ready to be loaded into the shuttle. The shuttle carries the bobbin back and forth across the loom, inserting the weft thread through the warp threads to create the fabric.
