‘RISE’ by Sahana

What began as a casual conversation between Fatima and Inosha about cotton and its varying types made its way to a dialogue that still persists.

‘Rise’ was born out of a deeper understanding of cotton and the different weights it could be made into. While the Australian seasons vary slightly from the ones in India, we had the task of coming up with the right weight that catered to a shorter winter season and transitioned into summer.

‘Clean’ and ‘classic’ was our brief as we hit the loom.  While Inosha had challenged us with the color palette - it had to be all about the fabric.

A combination of fabrics was constructed for Sahana in double count 2/40s cotton in a tighter reed and a 2x2 plain weave in 20s cotton to make it just right for the weather. A solid charcoal-colored plain fabric with asymmetric trims, an even check, and a stitch-like stripe was created after rounds of discussions over a couple of months.
